We're all on a journey with the potential for manifesting expanded truth in our day and age. Perhaps, few other words sum it up better than the following statement:
"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." (Arthur Schopenhauer)
God is always doing a progressive work in the earth - attempting to manifest more wholeness through the hearts and minds of humanity and shifting the social systems of the world. After all, the triumphant culmination of all things is revealed in these words:
"The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ" (Revelation 11:15 NKJV).
This revelation can be progressively worked out in our personal, everyday lives as we claim these words for ourselves:
"But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day" (Proverbs 4:18 RSV).
It's important for me to note that our righteousness is not because of our perfection, since we are not perfect. But, our ability to be righteous and claim the promises of the righteous, like the verse above, are because of the finished work of Christ!
2 Corinthians 5:21 says,
"For God made Him [Jesus] who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him".
Our righteousness in God is a gift to us from Christ, and not based on our own merits (Romans 5:17).
With that established, we can have a clear heart and mind to be conduits through which God's expanded truth and goodness is manifested in our era. It's healthy for us to realize that we are all a continuation and evolution of what has been (the past), and a connecting link toward what will be (the future)!
Oftentimes, the chronological context of our lives are situated in the crux of mass social change, at some level.
For example: my grandparents were in their prime during the Civil Rights era of the 1960's and led the way for great social advancement; my parents have lived [and continue to live] a progressive example of the "American dream" (along with its challenges and shortcomings); I am entering my prime during this technology boom where the entire world has literally been socially connected through the internet piped into an electronic palm device (the cell phone), etc. Wildly, my son and daughter are growing up with a very different social worldview than even what I grew up with. Yet, we are ALL situated in a mass context in which our individual lives can still produce powerful purpose and meaning. And yet, we must know that God is the SOURCE of our purpose and meaning.
As we move through life and manifest vision, we do so with this multi-generational awareness. We should honor the past and glean from its lessons, yet also determinedly set our gaze for what is to come while valuing the present.
You and I must advance, in this era. God is doing a progressive work in us. We must advance toward being the people God has called us to be: inclusive, thoughtful, empowered, loving, etc.
So, live your life, travel your journey, and let God get the glory, as expanded truth and goodness is manifested through you!
