Life is a Cycle

August 13, 2020

"While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease" (Genesis 8:22 RSV).

In life, there are cycles. It's good to remind ourselves that there is purpose in every season. Each season aids the function and purpose of the other, helping the whole to be vibrant, life-supportive and life-giving.

Out of any cyclical downturn, therein lies the seed of an opportunity - an opportunity for newness, growth and expansion. After all, we're all here to develop and become.

On my wall in my office at home, there's a picture with various colored butterflies that contains these words: "Simply become who you are"! It's a daily reminder that we're all here to manifest something special that God placed within us.

As long as the earth remains, seed time and harvest shall not cease. This is also a picture of God's intention to bless and sustain you, and your daily opportunity to experience it or demonstrate it more fully.

In Scripture,  God is so committed to honoring the promise of blessing to God's people, that there are several reminders issued forth which confirm it. God tells the people, through the prophet Jeremiah, that every time they look at the day exchanging place with the night, along with the cycles of the seasons, this is meant to serve as a reminder that the spiritual plan/intention for their blessing and wellness is sure and strong, no matter the trying times they may presently be enduring.

"Thus says the LORD: If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at their appointed time, then also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers" (Jeremiah 33:20-21 RSV).

To make it personal, the divine promises and intentions that are in your soul, are secured by God's covenant. In Christ, we have access to God's covenant of blessing for all of humanity. (See Galatians 3:13-14.)

God's covenant of blessing is stronger than world volatility. Your dilemma doesn't have to be your end.

The world is not new to end-of-times proponents. These messages have been around for thousands of years. And, in fact, it's always the "end-of-times" as we know it, for somebody, somewhere.

So, instead of worrying about when the end is, thank God for today and live full and free.

Plant yourself in the grounding of this covenant platform. In the realm of Spirit, your good is secure. When you tap the realm of Spirit, and merge with its virtues, you see that you, too, are secure. Therefore, no contrary outer condition can have the final say over your spiritual identity.

As long as the earth remains, there will be cycles throughout life. Entrust yourself into the faithful care of God's love and the sustainability of the covenant of blessing over your life. When you return to this space of groundedness, repeatedly, you anchor yourself amidst the conflicts of life.

Life operates in cycles and seasons. Knowing this, we have encouragement to endure the trying seasons, knowing that a change is coming. From this standpoint, we can join with the words of that old hymn, and declare: "Whatever my lot, You have taught me to say, 'It is well, it is well with my soul'".

Say with me,

"God's intention is for my well-being and No-Thing can snatch me from this blessed truth;  for I am secure in God, and God is secure in me! Amen!"
