Thanksgiving is a Lifestyle

November 26, 2020

Thanksgiving is a lifestyle - not just a holiday.

A lifestyle of Thanksgiving connects us with the goodness of God to fill our experience. I heard Pastor Jeff Miner say a few Sundays ago that "Thankful [grateful] people are happy people."

That resonated with me. If I ever start to feel down, I notice that when I concentrate on something to be thankful for, and start muttering under my breath, "Thank You...thank you, God", then my whole atmosphere begins to shift.

When I specifically start my day with some "thank you's" - when those are the first words out of my mouth when I get out of the bed - my whole day takes on a lighter tone. Offering thanks to God for the gift of life and being in that vibrational space, makes us more aware of the Universal alignment of the present moment, and the divine synchronicity that can work in our experience. This is truly a powerful disposition to have.

You see, the more we express gratitude,  the more we'll have for which to be grateful. The more we express thankfulness right where we are, then the more experiences we will attract for which to be thankful.

This is why the Scriptures admonish us to...

"be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18 - New Living Translation).

Notice this doesn't say to be thankful FOR all circumstances, but rather, to be thankful IN all circumstances. This doesn't mean we have to be thankful for bad things that happen, but it does mean that we can express gratitude in spite of difficulties. And when we express thankfulness over and above the difficulties we reposition ourselves as the victors through the challenge! This is the mystery of the lifestyle of Thanksgiving and gratitude.

As a practiced posture and heartfelt disposition,  the Thanksgiving-lifestyle opens us up to GIVE and RECEIVE in ever increasing cycles.

If ever we feel "pinched off" in any area of life, let's be reminded of how to "unpinch" ourselves: Offer Thanksgiving! - Thanksgiving that lifts God above every trial and leads to breakthroughs in life (spirit, soul and body).
